Greg Long's Biography /
Baptized
in the Gulf of Mexico by his itinerant preacher father, Greg gave
his heart to Jesus at a young age and began traveling with his family's
music ministry, during which five-year-old Greg made his singing
debut. At age 14, after a Dallas Holm concert, Greg recommitted
his life to God. Fast forward to 1993 when Myrrh Records offers
Greg a recording contract. His 1994 debut, Cross My Heart launched
with much fanfare, and by the time Jesus Saves landed in stores
in 1998, Greg was on the fast track to becoming a mainstay in Christian
music. God decided to keep it 'all in the family' when He intersected
Greg's path with that of Avalon vocalist Janna Long. In May of 2000,
the couple married, and continued their separate career paths. Then
after eight number one singles, six top 10 hits, an ASCAP Award,
and two Dove Award nominations, the opportunity arose to fill in
for departing Avalon member Michael Passons. And after much consideration
and prayer, and with his label's approval, Greg joined the group
full-time in 2003. In 2004, Greg released Born Again, his fifth
solo project, which was followed not long after by the birth of
his and Janna's first real duet, a baby girl.
When not on the road,
Greg, Janna and Lillian live in Nashville, TN.
